When should a propane tank be replaced?

A tank is replaced when it is no longer safe or no longer meets your consumption. The most common reasons in Puerto Rico are advanced corrosion from salt air, physical damage (dents, impacts), a deteriorated valve head or valves, a failed safety inspection, or the need for more capacity because you added equipment like a backup generator. If a cylinder is past its requalification and is not fit for use, it should be replaced too.

    Signs your tank needs replacement

    • Deep pitting rust or flaking on the tank.
    • Dents, impacts, or deformation of the tank body.
    • Persistent leaks or a valve head and valves in poor condition.
    • The tank does not pass the safety inspection.
    • You run short on propane because your consumption grew.

    Replace and improve capacity

Replacement is the ideal moment to match the size to your current consumption. If you added a backup generator, a water heater, or more appliances, it may make sense to move to a higher capacity tank. During the evaluation we calculate the right size so you neither run short nor pay for capacity you do not use.
